This research investigated how learners may understand 3-D and non-Euclidean geometries by using bespoke Tangible Widgets and Sun Microsystems SPOTs as a digital extension of their bodily movements. These interactive objects served as an interface to connect learners’ capacity for kinaesthetic thinking with digital learning environments. We built on 40 years of previous research with technologies such as Logo and programmable “Turtles”, but using tangibles to explore possibilities for new kinds of learning experiences in mathematics and science.
